Safety in Escape Rooms

Escape Room Safety is Our Top Priority

Escape rooms are thrilling, immersive experiences that challenge players to solve puzzles and complete missions within a set time. While the excitement of being “locked” in a room adds to the fun, safety is always a top priority for escape room operators. Here’s how escape rooms ensure the safety of their guests, so you can enjoy the experience worry-free.

1. Unlocked Doors and Emergency Exits

Contrary to the name, our escape rooms do not actually lock players inside. The entry doors are always unlocked, or there’s always an accessible exit in case of emergencies. In rooms that use locks as part of the theme, operators typically provide an emergency key or clearly mark an emergency exit to ensure no one is ever truly trapped. This guarantees that if you need to leave for any reason, you can do so easily.

2. Trained Staff and Game Monitoring

Escape rooms are constantly monitored by trained staff, often referred to as game masters. These individuals watch live video feeds and listen to audio to ensure the safety of all players. If any issues arise, such as someone feeling unwell or needing help, the game master can immediately intervene. Additionally, Game Masters can provide hints or assistance if players get stuck, enhancing both the safety and enjoyment of the game.

3. Fire and Building Safety Codes

Reputable escape room facilities are required to follow local fire and safety regulations, just like any other public entertainment venue. This includes proper fire exits, ventilation, and building safety measures. Before booking, it’s a good idea to check whether the escape room operator complies with safety standards to ensure a safe environment. (Note: the Charlotte Fire Department inspects our facility every single year).

4. Safe Props and Puzzles

Escape rooms use creative props and immersive setups to enhance the experience, but safety is always a priority. Props are designed to be safe for players, and there are typically no hazardous materials, dangerous objects, or physically strenuous activities required. If there are any specific safety guidelines for a particular room, staff will brief you before the game begins.

Now you know that escape rooms are not only designed for fun but also for safety. With unlocked doors, trained staff, and strict safety regulations, you can confidently enjoy the thrilling experience of solving puzzles and escaping the room.
